Training
Plan
It helps to
set up a basic training plan in idea for the year. What
do you want to teach the kids and what order should it
be taught? A plan helps your practices to stay focused
during the course of the year. It's important to note
however that your training plan needs to be a 'living'
document that gets changed based on what you're seeing
out on the field.
Example
of a Training Plan
Our
training plan for the season starts off with a general
assessment of the players on our roster. Younger,
unskilled players may mean most of the season will be
spent working on individual and small group skills. More
skilled and experienced players gives us the opportunity
to refine their skills while delving more into team
skills as the season progresses. In general a training
plan looks somewhat like this.

Note:
there is some 'blending' between categories such
that the more advanced topics covered in one section
(e.g. individual foot skills) may be taught at the
same time or even after the more basic skills from
another category (e.g. team skills). For example,
you may teach your team a basic "zone" defense just
to get them ready for their first game before you
teach more advanced individual skills.
